Reflection Activity 8

  • What did I learn from the topic? How can I apply this new learning in the future?

In this last topic we learned about the laws and punishments in terms of internet crimes in the Philippines and I am able to think about the field I am going to enter in the future and how ICT will help me.

By this realization I know Empowerment Technology will indeed help me in the future, all of the topic that was discussed by previous months I will surely apply those from the creation of advocacy to different platforms I can use, to online collaboration and a lot more.

And also, the knowledge about cyber crime will surely help me, because I already know this I can also educate other people in this case for us to be familiar and to lessen the violation in cyber crimes.

Internet Crimes

Internet crime is any crime or illegal online activity committed on the Internet, through the Internet or using the Internet. The widespread Internet crime phenomenon encompasses multiple global levels of legislation and oversight. In the demanding and continuously changing IT field, security experts are committed to combating Internet crime through preventative technologies, such as intrusion detection networks and packet sniffers.

Internet crime is a strong branch of cybercrime. Identity theft, Internet scams and cyberstalking are the primary types of Internet crime. Because Internet crimes usually engage people from various geographic areas, finding and penalizing guilty participants is complicated. (https://www.techopedia.com/definition/26587/internet-crime)

Common Internet crimes nowadays:

  • Phishing Scams- They are designed to trick people into giving up personal information or clicking on a malicious link that downloads malware.
  • Website spoofing– when a website is designed to look like a real one and deceive you into believing it is a legitimate site.
  • Ransomware– this involves the encryption of company data.
  • Malware– specifically designed to gain access to or damage a computer.
  • IOT Hacking

OPINION:

I am in favor of these punishments. People need to be familiar with laws and punishments these are made for people to follow and to lessen criminality rates in the Philippines. Some people suffer for the laws they violeted so these people are need to suffer the respective punishment. I just hope the people who will regulate the punishments did punish them fairly.

Reflection Activity 5

What did I learn from the topic? And How can I apply this new learning in the future?

It’s been a long week, lot of things happened but thankfully, through activities I learned somehow. ET week 11,12,13 Unit 5 deepens our knowledge and how we act things using and with the very help of social media.

It helps us to strengthen our advocacy related to what people needs now. We also made a concept paper for our campaign, a concept paper is a document used to convince a panel of potential funders to help a product, program or service become a reality. Your teacher will play the role of the sponsor and have to convince him or her that your project is worth your time an effort. By the help of these things I have known it will help me in the campaign or advocacy I’ll do in the near future.

How Social media helped us during calamities

How social media has helped families, social workers and the government in discerning information during calamities. Differentiate it from the past where information is only provided by the media (TV, radio, and print).

In the past years different social media platforms played an important role in the lives of every people especially in times of calamities and because of innovation the medium that we are using right now became easier and faster for us to communicate, to get information and to help others.

Televisions, radio, and prints such newspapers are the popular medium. News casters, anchors, writers or the team at the back of these medium delivered the information for people and in the early years social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter or even Instagram plays it role in quickest way. One of the example that supports it is the typhoons that came just few weeks or months ago because of some circumstances televisions and radio lacked of information and time for people to get informed but because we have different medium we were able to be informed at the same time help people who are in need. People now, are being able to have faster communication now.

Reflection Activity 4

It teaches how to manipulate or edit photos, supplementary materials also give example about certain apps we can use. Also, in making an introductory video for a campaign, four parts was introduces, the hook, into, body and call to action.

In evaluating the online collaboration tools some of the criteria should be applied. First the accuracy, It is really accurate as I browse several reviews of true users of this tool. Most thig they commend is the accuracy of this tool which help them to make scheduled meetings easier. Readability, like other applications, tools or websites this tool also use common text style formats that makes this tool readable same as in terms of understandable it is one of the tools that help users to easily make transcripts from audios, transcription are easily to read if mistakes happen it is also easy to point out. Also, automatic transcription in this tool is concise and easy to use but I guess they are still focusing in making their tool more concise, told by some feedbacks. Lastly, Ethical and Legal otter.ai ensures users that their app is safe, they also create privacy policy blog for the people to know more about this where we can read in https://blog.otter.ai/privacy-policy/.
